Has Munibung Hill fallen out of favour?
According to the last report from Council, other works are preferred over Munibung Hill. There appears to be no urgency to implement the Management Plan.

“COUNCIL STAFF are periodically discussing the acquisition of easements essential to developing/constructing an integrated trail network across Munibung Hill. It is noted that there are no timeframe requirements relating to the provision of easements or dedication of land, placed on Munibung Hill Pty Ltd,” says Steven Cowen, Community Land Planner (Sports) at Lake Macquarie City Council.

“These communications were through the development firm working on behalf of the owner, SNL Building. Council has been recently informed by SNL Building that they are no longer involved with the Munibung Hill project, and all communications should go directly to Munibung Hill Pty Ltd”.

“Further trail design/construction is dependent on future council funding.  At this time, other recreation works are preferred in the adopted Operational Plan and Budget 2024-2025.”

Steven goes on to report that: “A business case has been prepared for the Munibung Hill Trail Project, recommending resolving land tenure and further design work, to be included in the next 4 year forward works program. The decisions on the Business Cases has not been finalised at this time.”                          As at December 3, 2024.
