What is it about trees that fascinate so many people?  Are trees solitary plants living alone or do they form communities?  Do they make sounds that we can hear?  What is it that moves people to consider trees to be a part of the their extended family?  Are these people nutters or normal?  Well in this story: Listening to trees (Science Show, ABC Radio National with Robin Williams) we not only hear the sounds recorded by Alex Medcalf, we find out that Judi Dench – of As Time Goes By fame – now says she lives for her trees.  So much so that a movie titled Judi Dench: My Passion for Trees was produced.
