Unite to Protect the Night

Take refuge in the knowledge that when we Unite to Protect the Night, our star stuff origins can take on a new meaning and help us look beyond our earthly gaze to embrace a larger cosmic whole. A whole that is much greater than the sum of its limited human parts. We can put aside the trivial to embrace the bigger picture that unites us all.

TODAY, WE HONOR Carl Sagan, a visionary who beautifully reminded us of our cosmic origins. His words inspire awe, reminding us that every atom in our bodies was forged in stars millions of light-years away. We are intimately connected to the cosmos, woven from the very fabric of the universe.

This profound realisation—of being part of something so vast and magnificent—is why Under One Sky holds such meaning. Today (as at 9 & 10 November, 2024), at DarkSky’s global conference, we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and commitment to preserving our planet’s natural darkness. We are, after all, one with the stars and the night sky.
