The waterbirds of Biddabah Creek wetlands
THE BIRDS are back after their winter vacation. And the aquatic plants are recovering after their cool season retreat to the margins of the open waters. It’s all systems go for this special ‘pond’ of water right in the heart of Lakelands. ‘Caretaker’ of this place is Vina Chubb who over the years has documented the goings on and produced a picture book, titled Biddabah Creek: Protecting waterbird breeding areas. It’s the story of a creek catchment, wetland, swamp and waterbirds. It highlights the importance of wetlands to creek health and by extension to human health. View the publication here as a flipbook.
