Here is a transcript of the words that go with the video …

Good evening everyone. This is Xando from Newcastle Astronomical Society.

We had a viewing night for the partial lunar eclipse although we didn’t see the whole event from the east coast of Australia.

It was really good to catch up with everyone and get up to Bray Park, which overlooks the city of Newcastle – note the artificial light pollution – to capture the eclipse.

We had about 50 people of all ages including a few kids who enjoyed some stickers that I gave out to them and everyone enjoyed seeing the moon through the 16 in scope.

It’s really a good night that everyone enjoyed, except for when the mozzies came out right on dusk, but you get that up there.

We didn’t have the clearest of nights, there was a bit of light cloud, but it didn’t seem to interrupt the photos too badly. It gives you a bit of an idea of just how fast the moon was traveling in the time-lapses this sequence was captured with a 560 mil lens just taken from a normal tripod and I’ve just stabilised it in the post-processing so it stays nice and stable.

So if you’d like to get involved with out Little Space family, use the QR Code and join up.  Thanks for watching.
